PKU Cooking Workshop

BioMarin sponsored a PKU Cooking Workshop on Saturday, April 6, 2011 and it was a great success.  The event was held at the Chattanoogan Hotel and allowed plenty of room for our meeting activities, as well as the cooking workshop.  Dr. Kenda Bjoraker spoke about Living With A Chronic Illness.  Kenda was very knowledgeable about the brain and the effects PKU has on the brain.  She spoke on the importance of how the brain can be affected for both on and off the diet.  Erica Stelten spoke about Kuvan.  Following was an excellent low phe cooking demonstration by Jeffery Masse.  Chef Jeff allowed us the opportunity to split into various groups and cook our foods ourselves with his supervision.  Then we were able to eat our cooking from the various recipes family style.  It was such a great learning opportunity for all of us and allowed the opportunity to build our PKU community.

It's that time of year again!  Time to put on your walking shoes to support PKU and allied disorders.  We'll be going to the zoo in Nashville and Knoxville again this year.  Have fun checking out the animals while supporting a good cause.  Help us raise money for research and to hold local events for our community!

Below are the links for downloading the registration forms.  Thanks and we'll see you at the zoo! Smile
